Coaching and Development

In February, 2009 the BCB offered free Level I and Level 11 WICB Coaching Accreditation Courses. The Programmes were instructed by West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Development Officers, Mr. Wendell Coppin and former Captain of the West Indies Team, Stephanie Power.

The Level I Coaching Course covered: Athlete Preparation; Basics in batting, bowling, fielding, wicketkeeping; Captaincy; Biomechanics in Cricket; Coaching Principles; Game Sense Training; Group/Net Coaching; The Mental Game; Presentation Skills (how to coach skills) and Skill Acquisition (teaching methods & techniques).

Level II Coaching Course is an intermediate programme for coaches who hold Level I certification and want to improve their coaching knowledge or for those who have Level II and want to refresh their skills and learn more up-to-date coaching methods. The new level II course is higher and more intense than the previous level II course and it is recommended that all senior coaches go through the new programme.

The BCB was pleased to confirm that the following coaches passed:

Level 1: Lloyd Smith, Emma Lee, Vernon Eve, Perry Scott, Desmond Mello, Rachael Smith, Indomatie Goordial-John, Richard Carlington, Roderick Masters, David Lade, Shaun Roberts, Reginald Tucker, Joyann Clarke and Da-Von Wade.

Level II: Shaun Roberts, Damon Edwards, Roxell John, Linda Mienzer, Terry Thomas, Roderick Masters, Delano Talbot, Desmond Crockwell, Audley Campbell Jr. and Alfred Carter.
